“Everyone has a right to protect themselves. I'm on a mission to help teach how.”

Kelsey was born and raised in Southern California, just outside of Los Angeles. She joined the United States Marine Corps (USMC) at the age of 18. From 2007 to 2012, she was attached to HMX-1, the Presidential Helicopter Squadron as a Military Police K-9 handler working for both President Bush and Obama!

Her hard work and dedication paved the way for her to become the first female Martial Arts Instructor Trainer for the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MACE). Most people know her for having taken Justin Timberlake to the Marine Corps Ball in 2011.

Additionally her passion for martial arts outside of the Marine Corps allowed her to become a professional MMA competitor.

As a veteran, Kelsey graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a business degree along with establishing NSU’s first Student Veteran organization NSVA and, NSU’s Veterans Resource Center (VRC). Kelsey was named Ms. Veteran of America’s Iron Princess in 2014 and was featured in a Dr. Pepper commercial as “One of a Kind.”

Kelsey’s currently working on her graduate degree in Public Relations at the University of Miami and has plenty to do with helping run Military Muscle Gym and being NSU’s VRC Coordinator. Kelsey enjoys staying up late to send emails, doing homework, and never having any days off… jk.

She’s super excited to bring her strength in fitness leadership and her insight on overcoming adversity to Campowerment. On our end, we’re thinking we should prep for s’more “camp punch” in the Mess Hall…
