How you start your morning is how you run your day, and how you live your day is how you frame your week. Your weeks become your months become your years become your LIFE. So we’re asking the Experts — how do you start your day?
Meet Anne Sussman, Meditation Teacher and Campowerment lifer, who continuously evolves and is always willing to share her routine and practice of gratitude.
CP Crew: What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
Anne Sussman: First I say, “Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU.” Then I go to the bathroom, brush my teeth, take my thyroid medicine and sit back up in bed and meditate for 20-30 minutes, depending on my day ahead. Recently I have been dong Hebrew chanting for the first 5 minutes of my practice before sitting in silence. I am in the middle of a new chanting course and I am very moved by this practice. I notice I go deep when I chant.
CP Crew: Philosophically, how do you feel about hitting snooze?
AS: I don’t have a problem with snooze as long as it still leaves someone time and space to intentionally begin whatever it is comes next.
CP Crew: What’s 1 thing you do differently to set your day up to be a banger?
AS: I often pull a card from one of my six Oracle decks. I ask a question or set an intention and then ask the card to show me some guidance.
CP Crew: Any background music to the card-choosing…the meditation? What’s the soundtrack to your morning?
AS: A healthy dose of quiet.
CP Crew: Any looking wisdom that pushes you to be your best each day?
AS: Tomorrow is never promised. I love this quote from Betty Smith from A Tree Grows In Brooklyn: “Look at everything always as though you were seeing it either for the first or last time: Thus is your time on earth filled with glory.”
