Maria is a drummer and dancer, having performed with various troupes including Venus Rising Women’s Drum & Dance Ensemble.
Maria fell in love with all things rhythmic 25 years ago when an Artist’s Way course led to creative exploration and drum classes. Shortly thereafter on a de-stress trip to Esalen, Layne Redmond, author of “When the Drummers Were Women,” put a frame drum in her hand. Thus began the study of rhythm and its connection to feminine power, ritual and healing, as well as the study of “World” percussion from Africa and the African Diaspora. Maria has studied and performed Middle Eastern, Haitian, Flamenco and Gypsy Fusion dance and has taught and created space for the healing power of dance.
Through a lifelong interest in what makes us tick, she has completed courses including Lifespring and CoachVille, and is a Reiki Master. She brings this unique blend of experience to her passion as a drum and dance facilitator with a focus on personal growth and self-expression, but most of all just a profound invitation to be in your body, play and have FUN! In addition to being an artist, Maria is a survivor of the Corporate World 😉
With Campowerment, she’ll remind us of the natural rhythm and beat that we all share.
