Tammi and Chelsea together here today, with a note and news that comes directly from the heart.
After almost 12 years, more than 1,000 gatherings and 100x more reasons to be proud of all we’ve created together, our journey with Campowerment is complete.
September’s Classic Camp in the Poconos will be the grand finale!
A metamorphosis into whatever comes next, for the women inside a community that has deepened its roots and grown its wings, answering the Universe’s call to fly.
Not because we have to. Because we are choosing to. Because it’s time, we’re ready and we have given and received more than we could have ever dreamed we would in a million years!

It was on a blank piece of paper where this expert-led, summer camp-inspired experience for grown ups was created. And today, more than 100 life-changing events later, that page has become a whole book.
What an absolute wonder of a ride Campowerment has been! Out in nature, in Campowerment, we found our people and really came to see, feel and know we are not alone.
We got to create and share a safe, colorful, playful, natural, totally electrified container that has held some of the most healing laughter, a-ha moments, life-changing intergenerational friendships and much-needed bits of solitude and quiet. Paired with the opportunity to hear the wisdom of wise and generous women who came together, to share and learn from each other, the things we sometimes didn’t even know we needed.
Tammi:
I founded Campowerment because I needed to re-ignite my life at a time that I could not ignore the crazy dream that was keeping me up at night: Me and the coolest women in my world gathering with other brave women, willing to get vulnerable and play together. To re-ignite the fire inside us, in my happiest of environments: summer camp, the place that helped me find, define and refine me, so many years ago. (Shout out to my muse: Camp Akiba!)
As a kid at camp, I was excited that anything could happen, because I could be anyone I wanted to be, without the stories I interpreted, about who I was supposed to be, at home, in my “real world.”
At 53, I was longing to recreate that feeling, for grown-ups. But really, I needed to revive that, for me. So I walked out of a Warner Brothers TV Studio Control Room and into the “woods” of Malibu, to take a giant leap of faith and make it happen.
Almost immediately, “I” turned to “we.”
If it hadn’t, this dream would never have been.
Chelsea:
In 2013, I was 23, witnessing my mom be the person for herself that she had always been for me, and the so-many of us she helped raise and raise up throughout the course of her life. When my mom came to our family with the idea for Campowerment, we thought it was nuts: impractical but brilliant, awesome, totally alluring, and YES. It had to be a yes, because as soon as she spoke life to it, the flame was already lit, and growing.
We all wanted in – my Grandy the most (my mom’s mom – our original Good Will Ambassador) – and so did many of the most special people in our lives. We asked each to contribute – time, wisdom, feedback, their invitations to others, manual labor (lol – shout out to the Campower Rangers of our founding years)…and most of all: magic.
Tammi:
That’s really what everyone who’s laid a brick in Campowerment’s foundation has brought, from day one to the time of this writing.
🎯 Every camper; every expert; every Ranger; every journalist who shared those personal experiences that helped us grow; every client who trusted us to produce something totally unique for your group;
🎯 Every person who donated every dollar to help launch and nurture our sister non-profit (Give Her Camp) which, by the end of our run, will have funded camp for more than 140 honorees;
🎯 Every relative of a community member who allowed us to couch surf across the country for Mini Camps and all those late nights before/after camps, or while we waited in limbo for nine days during the Malibu fire (Mike Russo!).
🎯 And we can’t forget, every person who had our backs and supported us BIG after we survived that devastating blaze, and all the smaller proverbial fires we’ve all made it through and risen above, together.
Chelsea:
And here’s the thing: the magic’s nowhere near finished.
It lives in the memories, the pictures, the inside jokes, the magnificent stories of transformation, and mostly: it lives in us all…in the relationships that belong to each of us, to keep and kindle. Because those have been the biggest gift of all. By a landslide. By a mountain range. By an ocean. By a lifetime.
AND we’ve got one more gathering to top it all off, to create s’more of that Campowerment magic at Classic Camp one last time – this September 19-22 in the Poconos. Not too far from where my mama’s camp roots took hold, 50+ years ago!
This one’s about metamorphosis. Yours, mine and ours. 🦋
Tammi:
So…
️🔥 If you’ve ever wanted to see yourself at a Campowerment retreat and never made it happen, the time is NOW!
️🔥 If you’ve been here before and meant to return but have not found the opportunity, it’s here for the taking ONE LAST TIME
️🔥 And if you’ve been on the fence, it’s LAST CHANCE ‘cause the fence is about to come down! So fall on the right side of it, wouldya?!
The truth is: Now is all we’ve ever had. How lucky are we to KNOW it, and get to do something about it?!
See you at camp!
Thank you for allowing us to do this with our souls on our sleeves. Turns out: it’s the only way we know how.
With love and gratitude – from the campfire & beyond,
Forever your Campowerment Crew
